HP Pavilion dv7-2180us

For a computer user who likes watching films, handling graphics, or editing videos while doing computing tasks, the HP Pavilion dv7-218us laptop seems to be the ideal mobile machine. The HP Pavilion dv7-2180us is stuffed with specifications designed for mobile entertainment while being able to handle rich digital content.

The HP Pavilion dv7-2180us boasts to use one of the latest and powerful Intel Centrino 2 Processor Technology, featuring the Intel Core 2 Quad Processor Q9000. With this processor, the HP Pavilion dv7-2180us beats most quad core laptops on sale. Core 2 Quads have very high processing power, making machines equipped with it suitably designed for gaming and graphics uses. Though clocked at a low 2.0GHz, the HP Pavilion dv7-2180us’ quad core processor allows its user to run more applications without experiencing lags, especially when editing video and graphics.

One of the most prevalent complaints on entertainment-inclined laptops is the lack of disk space to store digital contents in. Complain no more, as the HP Pavilion dv7-2180us comes with a 500 GB hard drive, which is more than 50% larger than other laptops in its price range. It even offers a larger storage space than some desktops.

Nowadays, no matter how powerful a machine’s processor is, if it is not backed by enough memory, the laptop becomes somewhat useless for graphics and gaming uses. However, the HP Pavilion dv7-2180us is loaded with plenty of memory. Consider its RAM first. The HP Pavilion dv7-2180us is coupled with 6GB of PC2-6400 DDR2 Memory. It allows the user to run multithreaded applications without slowing down the machine.

The HP Pavilion dv7-2180us’ 6GB memory may have been a lot, but it doesn’t rely solely on that. This laptop is also reinforced by the Radeon HD 4650 dedicated graphics, which gives it a very good 3D graphics performance. And you have 1GB of overloaded memory to use. This specification makes the HP Pavilion dv7-2180us more appealing than other laptops in its price range, since 1GB of video RAM may jack up mobile machines’ prices by almost 40%.

Pros:

The HP Pavilion dv7-2180us’ main strength lies in the quad core processor that powers it. Although clocked lower than its competition in the same price range, possessing twice what its rivals have allows smoother computing and rendering without slowing down. That means saying goodbye to mobile machines that freeze up when some intense levels of processing are needed.

In addition, the HP Pavilion dv7-2180us have lots of memory to use. Not to mention that HP somewhat made an overkill when it added this feature to this machine.

An entertainment-based computing machine needs lots of space to store those HD media. Don’t fret though; the HP Pavilion dv7-2180us got 500GB of storage space to use up.

Cons:

Although one could call the HP Pavilion dv7-2180us an entertainment-based computing machine, it is really not an entertainment-focused laptop because its display is inferior. This 17.3” laptop’s display falls short of the 1080p needed to show to purely HD content. 780p may do well with the HP Pavilion dv7-2180us, but for most HD contents to be really appreciated, 1080p is required.

Conclusion:

The HP Pavilion dv7-2180us is a superior entertainment-based computing machine. It is an excellent choice for people who like watching or editing media while traveling. When compared to the other machines in its price range, this laptop offers good value.
