When searching for an entry-level laptop, one should consider its capabilities and if it is a fit for the user’s needs. You have to make sure that the unit you are looking can indeed deliver. For this review, we will look at the K50IJ-RX05 by Asus. Is its performance at par with the other computers in the same price class and category? Let us look at its specifications and find out.
Unlike most laptops in the market, the Asus K50IJ-RX05 uses the Intel Pentium Dual-Core T4200 as the primary force behind its operations. Though older, it uses 3 gigabytes of memory to power its operations. With a decent memory, it can still provide satisfactory performance and perform as fast as the newer processors. As for graphics, the Asus K50IJ-RX05 relies on an Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 4500, which isn’t much. However, you have to remember that this is an entry level computer we’re looking at here.
The Intel GMA 4500 allows the laptop to have an output with a resolution of 1366×768, more than enough to display clear graphics and detailed video for its users. It cannot, of course, process heavy games.
The Asus K50IJ-RX05 is armed with up to 360 gigabytes of space for files, whether they are movies, documents, pictures and music. For backing up files, there is a DVD reader/writer.
The Asus K50IJ-RX05 is equipped with essential connectivity features such as wireless Internet, four hi-speed USB ports, and a 3-in-1 card reader.
Lastly, the Asus K50IJ-RX05 has a 3.8-hour battery life.

Pros:
The Asus K50IJ-RX05 sports a design that any user can be proud of: bronze black finish that makes it look very professional despite being just an entry level laptop. It has great dimensions as well. For a 14.6-incher laptop, the Asus K50IJ-RX05 is very slim with only 1.4 inches of thickness in it. At 5.7 pounds, the K50IJ-RX05 is very light as well.
Aside from being stylish, the Asus K50IJ-RX05’s design is also ergonomic. It has decently-sized keys that are comfortable to use.
Another good thing about the Asus K50IJ-RX05 is the 16:9 aspect ratio for its display. You would not have to see black lines on the borders of your videos and DVD when watching them with your Asus K50IJ-RX05.
The Asus K50IJ-RX05’s battery life allows it to hold up to 3.8 hours without AC power. It is also good to know that despite being powered by a Dual Core processor, the Asus K50IJ-RX05’s performance is still up to par.
Cons:
The Asus K50IJ-RX05 has an integrated graphics media accelerator, which could put other users at a disadvantage when it comes to gaming. Plus, the Asus K50IJ-RX05 is not upgradeable.
Conclusion:
For those whose needs do not go beyond normal computing tasks and casual gaming, the Asus K50IJ-RX05 would be a very good acquisition for an entry-level computer. For those seeking exceptional performance in several fields, then this laptop is certainly not the one for you.
