The Dell Studio 17 was mentioned in Core i7 laptops.

The Dell Studio 17 is a top-ranging model produced under the Dell Studio series, which offers flexibility in choosing the features of the unit. The Series came about due to people’s needs to be able to tweak the features of their laptops, much as they would a desktop.

What this means is that the Dell Studio 17 helps one to arrive at a unit that will answer his computing needs, whether it is for business, for gaming or for entertainment.

The Studio 17 offers high quality options for your specifications as well. For example, when choosing your hard disk, you can choose from 320-gigabytes and up to 640-gigabytes of hard disk space. This means you can have a lot of space for important files as well as personal items such as movies, music, documents and many others. There’s always a space for them with Dell’s Studio 17.

The Studio 17 is armed with a 17-inch display screen that is capable of a resolution of 1440×900. Its large size as well as its spacious resolution makes for easy multi-tasking, attention to detail and convenient viewing for the user. Though it is not capable of true 1080p resolution like other Studio models, the Studio 17 is still nevertheless able to stand on its own with its decent resolution.

The Studio 17 runs on either a Dual Core or a Core 2 Duo, both from Intel, at varying processor speeds. This processor is backed by up to 4-gigabytes of random access memory. For graphics, the Studio 17 has an integrated Intel Graphics Media Accelerator, the X3100, for its default configuration. However, you can upgrade this to a 256-megabyte ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3650. This doesn’t mean that you can do heavy gaming with the Studio 17. Newer games would require 512 MB or 1 GB graphics cards to run smoothly.

Pros:

The Dell Studio 17 can point to its processors as one of its strongest points. Both the Dual Core and Core2Duo processors are known for the power they give the computers they are installed in. Furthermore, the Dell Studio 17 gives the processor a lot of memory to use when processing: it can use to 4 gigabytes of memory, making it possible to run heavy programs without the glitches that have been observed in the past.

The Dell Studio 17’s screen also has an amazing resolution and when viewing large web pages, scrolling is not necessary. It is also possible to open a lot of windows and place them side-by-side for easy reference with the display screen’s 1440×900 resolution.

Cons:

The default configuration for the Studio 17 is quite weak on the graphics side with an X3100 graphics media accelerator. The upgrade option does no offer much either; though the ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3650 is better than the integrated graphics card option, it is still not powerful enough to satisfy the hard-core gamer.

Conclusion:

All in all, the Studio 17 is good enough if you’re going to use it for normal computing processes with a little gaming on the side. However, if you want to subject it to rigorous graphics rendering, then you will be definitely disappointed with the Studio 17’s performance. The Studio 17 is priced from $659-$939.
