There have been a lot of laptops that have been made to cater to business people.  The HP Compaq 6820s is one of those laptops made years ago, yet continues to grasp a hold of the market for small businesses.

The HP Compaq 6820s is one of the three business laptops released by HP in 2007, with others as the 6520s and the 6720s.  The 6820s is the largest of the three, having a 17-inch display and a large resolution of 1440 x 900 pixels.  All three sports a silver yet business-look finish.

The HP Compaq 6820s is powered by a an Intel Celeron Processor running up to 2 GHz, although one may opt to upgrade the unit’s brain to Intel Core 2 Duo clocked up to 2.4 GHz.   This processing general could be supported by up to 4GB of RAM, which is more than enough to ensure than handling business applications and software would be without a hitch.  Unlike other business laptops released at the same time with the HP Compaq 6820s, this laptop’s graphics is supported by an ATI Mobility Radeon X1350 card.

With this specs, one could be assured that the HP Compaq 6820s could be a device with several functions but not have enough power to handle larger and heavier applications.  Although it is sure to lose out in terms of processing capacity to its newer competitors, the HP Compaq 6820s remains a good choice if one decides to buy an affordable yet a very good functional laptop.

Pros:

The HP Compaq 6820s specs may seem old. But don’t underestimate this machine.  It could still give newer laptops a run for their money, especially that some buyers look for a thinking machine that answers that need for a large, yet is not heavy on the pocket.  It is ideal for small businesses, especially the start-up ones.

The HP Compaq 6820s has an impressive set of keyboard and touchpad.  Its keys are full-sized and well-placed, making it easy to shift between a desktop at home or at office and the HP Compaq 6820s while on the run. The keys also respond well when pressed, making it perfect for touchtypists.  Also, the touchpad has a scroll zone in it, making it easier to navigate long pages of documents.

The HP Compaq 6820s’ silver chassis could also withstand some degree of physical abuse.

Cons:

A little issue with the HP Compaq 6820s: a bit slow start up.  Start up is really important when on the run, especially when one needs to access files immediately during an emergency meeting.  The HP Compaq 6820s’ startup is a bit slow, but is manageable enough when time is not an issue.

Another thing with the HP Compaq 6820s is that it gets a little warm after some time of use.  This is really expected from a thin laptop, as the HP Compaq 6820s is only 1.27 inches thick.  Heat is always an issue with thin laptops.

Conclusion:

The HP Compaq 6820s is definitely a recommended good buy.  Although quite old in terms of processing power, the HP Compaq 6820s could still dish out a good performance when handling a number of business applications.
