The Latitude XT is Dell’s first-ever contestant in the Tablet PC market. Of course, it is a laptop, and at the same time, a tablet. The Dell Latitude XT is targeted towards business people who need both the technology of a mobile PC and a tablet.
A tablet is very useful especially when doing inventory jobs and when one needs to hold the machine while inputting data. A laptop is ideal when one needs to handle some computing jobs and work applications. Imagine having both in one machine.
As a cross between a laptop and a tablet, the Dell Latitude XT is integrated with technologies found in two worlds. An example is pen and touch technology. Even when in laptop mode, one can access the Dell Latitude XT without using a mouse or the touchpad – just simply use a finger or two to click, double-click or zoom an image. This is made possible by the N-Trig touchscreen technology. This enables the Dell Latitude XT’s 12.1-inch screen to respond either with a pen or with one’s finger. A user can also use the pen without worrying about his palm — which would likely be touching the screen – thanks to the Dell Latitude XT’s good palm rejection feature.
The Dell Latitude XT features WXGA 1280 x 800 resolution screen, which is already high for a laptop this size. One good thing about the Dell Latitude XT’s screen is its LED backlight, which allows longer battery life that means longer usage time.
The Dell Latitude XT is powered by Intel’s Ultra Low Voltage processor in Core 2 Duo U7600. This processor, which runs at 1.2 GHz clock speed, eats up lower energy compared to others. This general is backed by up to 2 GB of RAM and an integrated graphics in ATI Radeon Xpress X1250.
As for its looks, the Dell Latitude XT is neither too stylish nor too bland. In laptop mode, the Dell Latitude XT sports a good solid business look. The Dell Latitude XT comes in all black, with a little aluminum finish on the lid. What is good about the Dell Latitude XT is that it weighs a measly 3.12 pounds – light enough to carry around in tablet mode. Plus, it might be one of the thinnest laptops around, and tablet of course, as it is only an inch thick.

Pros:
The Dell Latitude XT is great with its N-Trig touch technology, which other tablet PCs doesn’t have. This allows dual and capacitive touch, making it easy to use around as a tablet.
Aside from its nice backlit display, the Dell Latitude XT sports a solid keyboard, which doesn’t break or bend with pressure.
Its pen is also customizable; one can adjust the pen to his writing preferences. Its tips are replaceable so as to adjust one’s writing style.
The Dell Latitude XT boots up pretty fast, mainly due to the dual core technology brought by Intel’s Core 2 Duo processor.
Cons:
One of the disappointments in the Dell Latitude XT is its heat issue. This tablet PC could easily warm up even in low power mode. The Dell Latitude XT, however, does not heat up to the point that the user becomes uncomfortable.
The main turnoff with the Dell Latitude XT is its pricey tag. One can get good tablet PCs from competing brands at basically lower prices.
Conclusion:
The Dell Latitude XT is an excellent tablet PC that possesses good looks, processing power, amazing features and comfortable screen. It is a bit pricey though.
