The HP Pavilion dv7t first came out to the laptop market with the Intel Centrino 2 processor.  The HP Pavilion dv7t is tagged as an entertainment laptop and back when it was first released, it was highly recommended.  It had impressive specs and its stylish design made it very popular.

 

That was then.  But what has changed? Well, HP made an upgrade to its existing HP Pavilion dv7t series. Now, a buyer could opt to have his HP Pavilion dv7t with the high-powered Intel Core i5 processors.

 

The Intel Core i5 processor comes in second only to the performance grandmaster — the Intel Core i7 processors.  That is why one should have no doubts on whether the HP Pavilion dv7t could dish out extraordinary performances even when running hardcore applications.  The answer is definitely “yes” to the question, “Would the HP Pavilion dv7t deliver what the average user expects?”

 

Let us see some other reason why the upgraded HP Pavilion dv7t is worth acquiring when looking for a multimedia laptop.

 

HP did not only upgrade the HP Pavilion dv7t’s central brain, but also added modifications to its supporting units.

 

First is its memory support.  The first HP Pavilion dv7ts were backed by just up to 3 GB of RAM.  The latest upgrade, however, contains up to 8 GB of memory backup.  With this amount of RAM supporting a powerful core i5 laptops processor, expect a seamless and very smooth performance.

 

Next is the graphics support.  The pre-i5 HP Pavilion dv7t is loaded with a NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT, while the latest upgrade is packed with either a gigabyte of NVIDIA GeForce GT 320M or 512 MB of GeForce G 105M. 

 

The storage space also received an upgrade.  HP added 240 GB of disk space into the HP Pavilion dv7t, making it a 640 GB entertainment laptop.  Plus, the HP Pavilion dv7t could be loaded with the dual hard drive option, transforming it into a 1.28 TB laptop.  Pure entertainment that is, since multimedia files, especially those HD movies, eat up disk space so quick that some laptop owners often resort to buying an external hard disk.  With the upgraded HP Pavilion dv7t, it would take some time before one could complain of zero storage space.

 

The HP Pavilion dv7t comes with the Blue-Ray/DVD Combo optical drive that allows the playing of one’s favorite movies in Blu-Ray media.  The HP Pavilion dv7t remains the 17-incher laptop that sports the same liquid metal black finish with silver lining as the previous release.  The HP Pavilion dv7t also comes with a Moonlight White finish.

 

The HP Pavilion dv7t’s liquid crystal display sports a 16:9 aspect ratio, making it ideal for watching HD movies or playing 3D games. Being a multimedia laptop, the HP Pavilion dv7t is loaded with an integrated TV tuner, Altec Lansing stereo speakers, Web cam and an array of connectivity features like USB ports and card reader.

 

The HP Pavilion dv7t with the Intel Core i5 is pegged to sell starting at $999.

PROS

 

The HP Pavilion dv7t is sure a sleek multimedia laptop.  It offers an awesome multimedia experience whether one is into games, movies or music, thanks to its powerful processor, large amount of memory, hardcore graphics card, more than 1 TB of disk space and high-quality video and audio.

 

CONS

 

However, the HP Pavilion dv7t does have a weak spot.  The powerful specs contained in the HP Pavilion dv7t’s box causes a certain degree of discomfort as it heats up when subjected to prolonged usage.

 

CONCLUSION

 

HP Pavilion dv7t with Intel Core i5 was a big improvement over its former self.  Audio quality was improved and the erstwhile large capacity became a lot larger.  Faster and better, the HP Pavilion dv7t is worth buying, especially that it comes only an affordable $999 price tag.
