One of the fortunate laptop models to have been graced with the next generation processor, HP Pavilion Quad Edition dv6t from Hewlett-Packard is bound to give users an incredible experience. With price estimates starting at $999, what value would this laptop offer to the buyer?

On top of the list of things to mention would be the smartest processor from Intel, the Intel Core i7, which marshals all of the operations done by the dv6t. You have a choice of two Core i7 processors: first off is the 720QM with a speed clocked at 1.6GHz and second is the 820QM which runs at 1.73GHz. With the Core i7’s Turbo Boost technology, however, you can raise that speed up to 2.8 and 3.06 GHz respectively. These processors are backed by at least 2 gigabytes of DDR3 RAM. With 2 DIMM slots available, you can upgrade it up to 4 gigabytes of memory. This is a recipe for an excellent and seamless performance by the HP Pavilion Quad Edition dv6t.

Worried about hard disk space? Put those woes behind you, because with the HP Pavilion Quad Edition dv6t, it would take a whole lot of effort to make your hard disk run out of space. You have a choice of 250 GB, 500 GB and 640 GB hard disks. Whichever you choose, you get to enjoy a very fat storage room to put your files in. All hard disks come with HP’s proprietary ProtectSmart hard disk protection technology which prevents data loss from shock and sudden impact. HP designed the Quad Edition dv6t so well that you don’t have to worry about anything.

Graphics is not a problem with the dv6t as well. It can handle just about anything including heavy 3D graphics rendering thanks to its Nvidia GeForce card. The core i7 notebook is equipped with the GT230M, which has a VRAM capacity of a whopping 1 gigabyte. Bring it on, gamers! It has a large enough display of 15.6 inches so gamers can see every detail of the game they are playing. This is important especially for games like Warcraft as well as first-person shooter stuff. The HP Pavilion Quad Edition dv6t also comes with an Integrated HDTV Hybrid Tuner.

You can customize the HP Pavilion Quad Edition dv6t to suit your needs. If you want to ensure the security of your files, you can choose to limit the access other people have by installing an optional fingerprint reader together with a webcam. The dv6t can also be installed with an Intel Wireless-N Card with BlueTooth as well as an ExpressCard from Verizon to enable wireless Broadband access.

The HP Pavilion Quad Edition dv6t is also packaged with several necessary software for Photography, CD/DVD burning and entertainment.

PROS

The HP Pavilion Quad Edition dv6t has a very powerful processor, further complemented by the Turbo Boost technology that comes with the Core i7. The laptop also has a fat memory and hard disk capacity as well, and is capable of heavy graphics thanks to the 1 GB video card that it is equipped with.

CONS

The dv6t’s screen can only output 1366×768. Although it is high enough for detail clarity and crispness, it simply falls short of true 1080p resolution of 1920×1080.

CONCLUSION

HP could have given it a better resolution but everything else about the HP Pavilion Quad Edition dv6t makes it worth the price you pay for it: the hard disk space, the powerful Core i7 processor and the excellent graphics card. Plus it starts at only $999, which makes it cheaper than most of its competitors. All in all, good value at a good price.
