Following after the footsteps of several successful models of the Acer Aspire family, the Acer Aspire AS5940G is the most powerful of them so far. It is one of the first models to implement Intel’s Core i5 technology. A little below the Core i7 processor, which is dubbed as the “smartest” core to ever grace the motherboards of computers, the Core i5 nevertheless promises a smooth and seamless performance that will surely satisfy even the most demanding user.
Clocked at 1.6 GHz, the Acer Aspire AS5940G supports its processor with a massive memory capacity of 4 gigabytes. There’s more than enough RAM for the laptop to process several programs simultaneously, including those that are hungry in memory in order to operate. With the AS5940G, you have at your disposal a very dependable machine that will not waste your time with lags and glitches especially when doing tasks like video editing and graphics rendering.
Hard disk space is a prime concern to all that are interested in purchasing laptops. Nobody wants a laptop that will prompt them to make backups every now and then in order to make room for new files. With the AS5940G, a core i5 notebook, however, you get to store up to 500 gigabytes of files. There is more than enough space for whatever files you can think of: HD movies that eat up gigabytes worth of disk space, music files, pictures, documents and anything else. Moreover, the hard disk drive implements the SATA technology. This means that there is a higher transfer rate of data as compared to older IDE hard drives.
Gamers will certainly love the Acer Aspire AS5940G, because it is well suited to answer their needs. Unlike most laptops, the AS5940G comes packaged with a dedicated graphics card with a large video memory capacity of 1 gigabyte. This card is the ATI Radeon HD4650. With its large video RAM, this graphics card makes it possible for the Acer Aspire AS5940G to accommodate heavy graphics rendering. Newer games will be a breeze for this notebook to run. You can also view HD movies with greater clarity thanks to the capabilities of the graphics adapter. However, it is still unable to support Blu-Ray movies because of a lack of supporting Blu-Ray drive.
This laptop is capable of both wired and wireless network connectivity. Aside from that, it also has BlueTooth adapters, a webcam, a fingerprint reader, and both VGA and HDMI ports.
The Acer Aspire AS5940G is priced at the $2,200-$2,600 range.
