Asus_M60J_Laptop

Asus was one of the first laptop manufacturers that used Intel’s newest processing technology, the Intel Core i7. Its first model to have the advanced mobile computing technology is no other than the Asus M60J.

The Asus M60J is a multimedia laptop.  It is designed to cater to the needs of multimedia users who cannot get enough of it at home.  Even while traveling or away from home, multimedia addicts could still access their favorite movies or music.

What does it take to be a multimedia laptop? First, it has to have the ability to process heavy applications and render heavy graphics at viewing pleasure.  Second, it must be capable of storing as much digital files as it could, especially today that HD multimedia files are becoming a trend.  The third factor would be the ability to lock into a certain feature without typing in so many keys.

Asus G51J – Review

Hardcore gamers have a reason to celebrate after Asus added another monster laptop to its mobile gaming army.  Making a gaming laptop is not easy though, since there is less space to fit in those powerful components than on a tower casing of a gaming desktop.  Ordinarily, a 15-inch laptop would weigh around three to four pounds, that is, with mediocre processor, some RAM and perhaps without dedicated graphics and an optical drive.

Asus, however, was able to cramp powerful component into a laptop’s chassis by increasing its dimensions and adding manageable weight.  The result was its gaming laptops that include the Asus G60J and the Asus G51J.  These gaming laptops are two of the few that are blessed to be loaded with Intel’s latest processor – the Core i7.  With this processor, any laptop is sure to dish out a powerful performance.

Posted on February 13th, 2010 | by admin

Asus-G60J-laptop-

With the G60J, Asus aims to take gaming experience to a level higher by introducing mobility features to your common gaming desktops. With these challenge on the mind, Asus introduced two gaming laptops that happen to carry the latest processing technology by Intel – the Asus G60J and the Asus G51J.

PC gaming is often associated with desktops since it is easy to fit several high-end components into a tower casing.  But it is quite a hurdle if we talk about taking gaming onto the road.  It would be hard to cramp powerful components in a laptop box. Positioned as gaming laptops, the Asus G60J and the Asus G51J contain high-end specs that would surely take one’s gaming experience away from home into another dimension.

How should gaming laptops be made? Well, an undisputed answer is awesome performance.  To ensure that the Asus G60J and the Asus G51J accomplish heavy hardcore tasks, Asus fitted these gaming laptops with Intel’s latest Core i7 technology.

Asus X77 – Review

Posted on February 1st, 2010 | by admin

asus-x77-laptop[1]

Asus got a gaming laptop on the house – the awaited Asus X77.  The Asus X77 is one of the first laptops in Asus’ cache that carries two very powerful components – the Intel Core i5 processor and the ATI Mobility Radeon 5730.

As a gaming laptop, the Asus X77 is expected to unleash a smooth and seamless performance even when running hardcore and memory-hungry games.  Well, the Asus X77 could very well do so, thanks to its processor/memory combo.

The Asus X77 is powered by the Intel Core i5-430M that runs on a clock speed of 2.26 MHz.  However, when the operations need it, the Intel Core i5-430M could raise the tempo to 2.53 GHz by using the Intel’s Turbo Boost technology.  The Intel Core i5-430M could handle four threads at once, resulting to a faster and more powerful performance.   The Intel Core i5 has 3 MB Level 3 Cache.

Asus K50IJ-RX05 – Review

Posted on January 3rd, 2010 | by admin

Asus_K50IJ_RX05

When searching for an entry-level laptop, one should consider its capabilities and if it is a fit for the user’s needs. You have to make sure that the unit you are looking can indeed deliver. For this review, we will look at the K50IJ-RX05 by Asus. Is its performance at par with the other computers in the same price class and category? Let us look at its specifications and find out.

Unlike most laptops in the market, the Asus K50IJ-RX05 uses the Intel Pentium Dual-Core T4200 as the primary force behind its operations. Though older, it uses 3 gigabytes of memory to power its operations. With a decent memory, it can still provide satisfactory performance and perform as fast as the newer processors. As for graphics, the Asus K50IJ-RX05 relies on an Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 4500, which isn’t much. However, you have to remember that this is an entry level computer we’re looking at here.

The Intel GMA 4500 allows the laptop to have an output with a resolution of 1366×768, more than enough to display clear graphics and detailed video for its users. It cannot, of course, process heavy games.

Asus UX50V – Review

Posted on December 19th, 2009 | by admin

ASUS_UX50V

One of the two UX series laptops produced and announced by Asus in the second quarter of 2009, the Asus UX50V promises a more powerful performance as compared to the other notebook, the UX30.

First off, it has a larger screen at 15.6 GHz with a native resolution of 1366×768. This screen is capable of HD output as well. This would mean greater clarity and detail, making this notebook’s screen friendlier to the eyes. These dimensions also make it ideal for tasks such as video and photo editing where you need to have access great detail to do the job. For gamers, gaming is also more fun and easier with these display capacities.

That is where the other difference between these two laptops lies. The Asus UX30 comes with only an integrated Intel Graphics Accelerator, which greatly limits the games and other visually related processes that the notebook can take on. With the UX50V, however, people can now do gaming on an Asus notebook. This notebook is equipped with a dedicated NVIDIA GeForce G105M graphics card. This card has a very powerful VRAM of 512 megabytes to allow it to render more detailed graphics during gameplay.

Asus UX30 – Review

Posted on December 16th, 2009 | by admin

asus-ux30-5The Asus UX30 is one of the latest models introduced by Asus, also known as the mother of the mini-netbooks due to its innovation with the Asus EEE PC series. This time, Asus debuts a UX series of ultra-thin laptops with features that are actually bigger than itself.

The Asus UX30 is the smaller of the two UX series laptops. It only has a 0.9 inch profile, also making it one of the thinnest there are in the market. True to Asus’ intent, the UX30 makes for a good traveling companion for the writer, the businessman and the average computer user. Furthering its mobility, the UX30’s weight is proportionate to its size. You can carry around and it will feel almost like carrying only a few books in your carrying case.

ASUS EEE PC 901 – Netbook Review

Posted on October 2nd, 2009 | by admin

asus-eee-pc901-netbook-review

The Asus EEE PC 901 was featured as ranking fifth on our list of Top 5 Netbooks for 2009. The Asus Eee PC 901 comes with a small but nice looking 8.9-inch display boasting a 1024 x 600 resolution. A 1.6 GHz Intel Atom processor sits at its command center to handle its processing needs. There is a 1 GB of RAM (DDR2) to work around as well as 802.11n Wi-Fi and Bluetooth features. This Asus also has three USB ports, an integrated Ethernet, a webcam and stereo speakers.

In our Top 5 Netbooks review, we noted that the Asus Eee PC 901 offers snappy performance and great battery life. It is a budget notebook with features found in its more expensive counterparts. We certainly like its gesture-compatible mouse controls and the availability of 802.11n Wi-Fi.

The Asus Eee PC 901 is supposed to be an improvement over its Eee PC 900 sibling. The difference starts with a nice redesign – the matte coated lid has been replaced with a glossy one and the hinge is given a circular, silver touch. (more…)
