HP 8540p Review

Posted on August 21st, 2010 | by admin

HP_8540p-5[1]

Like many HP laptops the HP Elitebook 8540p has a very stylish look. The laptop contains features and options so that it seems to target the business market.  In this HP 8540p review you will see that this is one power laptop. It contains a Core i5 or Core i7 laptop processor and has 2 or 4GB RAM.

On the Outside the HP 8540p has brushed metal exterior giving it a real stylish and sophisticated look. The other plus on the brushed metal is the fact that it will hide fingerprints. Overall it feels very sturdy when you handle the laptop this is great for protection of the LCD screen.

The HP 8540p ‘s screen is quite impressive for a business laptop. The colour saturation and black levels are great. The contrast is fair, so editing photos is quite possible. The 1 thing that is not that good on the screen is the level of back lighting. Working with this laptop outdoors on a bright day will not work, but indoors or in shade you will be fine.

The 8540p keyboard feels like a chiclet style keyboard. The keys have adequate space and the keyboard has a strong support structure in general. The touchpad is very responsive, we experienced no lag. This touchpad includes a mid button that might be helpful if you use it.

Specs for Core i5 version

  • Intel Core i5-620M (2.4GHz, 6MB L2 cache)
  • Microsoft Genuine Windows 7 Professional (32-bit)
  • 15.6-inch LED-backlit HD+ anti-glare (1600 x 900)
  • NVIDIA NVS 5100m graphics with 1GB GDDR3
  • 2GB DDR3 1333MHz RAM (16GB Max)
  • 320GB 7200RPM HDD
  • Intel Ultimate-N 6300 AGN WiFi, 1Gb Ethernet, Modem, and Bluetooth Connectivity
  • 8-Cell 73WHr Battery (14.4V)
  • Dimensions: 14.7” x 9.90” x 1.28”
  • Weight: 6lbs 7.9oz
  • +- $1,299

Pros

  • One of the most stylish laptops we have reviewed. A very sturdy high quality build.
  • High powered on CPU, RAM etc.

Cons

  • It’s a bit expensive for the average consumer
  • Battery life not great, but expected given the problems core i5 and i7 laptops have in general with this area.

Summary

If you want to make an impression around the boardroom table, get it. Remember to pack your power cord.

HP Pavilion dv6t Quad Edition – Review

Posted on February 6th, 2010 | by admin

HP-Pavilion-dv6t

One of the fortunate laptop models to have been graced with the next generation processor, HP Pavilion Quad Edition dv6t from Hewlett-Packard is bound to give users an incredible experience. With price estimates starting at $999, what value would this laptop offer to the buyer?

On top of the list of things to mention would be the smartest processor from Intel, the Intel Core i7, which marshals all of the operations done by the dv6t. You have a choice of two Core i7 processors: first off is the 720QM with a speed clocked at 1.6GHz and second is the 820QM which runs at 1.73GHz. With the Core i7’s Turbo Boost technology, however, you can raise that speed up to 2.8 and 3.06 GHz respectively. These processors are backed by at least 2 gigabytes of DDR3 RAM. With 2 DIMM slots available, you can upgrade it up to 4 gigabytes of memory. This is a recipe for an excellent and seamless performance by the HP Pavilion Quad Edition dv6t.

HP Pavilion dv7t – Review

Posted on February 4th, 2010 | by admin

HP-Pavilion-dv7t

The HP Pavilion dv7t first came out to the laptop market with the Intel Centrino 2 processor.  The HP Pavilion dv7t is tagged as an entertainment laptop and back when it was first released, it was highly recommended.  It had impressive specs and its stylish design made it very popular.

That was then.  But what has changed? Well, HP made an upgrade to its existing HP Pavilion dv7t series. Now, a buyer could opt to have his HP Pavilion dv7t with the high-powered Intel Core i5 processors.

The Intel Core i5 processor comes in second only to the performance grandmaster — the Intel Core i7 processors.  That is why one should have no doubts on whether the HP Pavilion dv7t could dish out extraordinary performances even when running hardcore applications.  The answer is definitely “yes” to the question, “Would the HP Pavilion dv7t deliver what the average user expects?”

Posted on January 27th, 2010 | by admin

hp_compaq_6820s1[1]

There have been a lot of laptops that have been made to cater to business people.  The HP Compaq 6820s is one of those laptops made years ago, yet continues to grasp a hold of the market for small businesses.

The HP Compaq 6820s is one of the three business laptops released by HP in 2007, with others as the 6520s and the 6720s.  The 6820s is the largest of the three, having a 17-inch display and a large resolution of 1440 x 900 pixels.  All three sports a silver yet business-look finish.

The HP Compaq 6820s is powered by a an Intel Celeron Processor running up to 2 GHz, although one may opt to upgrade the unit’s brain to Intel Core 2 Duo clocked up to 2.4 GHz.   This processing general could be supported by up to 4GB of RAM, which is more than enough to ensure than handling business applications and software would be without a hitch.  Unlike other business laptops released at the same time with the HP Compaq 6820s, this laptop’s graphics is supported by an ATI Mobility Radeon X1350 card.

HP Compaq Presario CQ 20 – Review

Posted on January 23rd, 2010 | by admin

hp-compaq-presario-cq20-and-cq70-notebook-pcs[1]

There’s always the smallest in a series, and the HP Compaq Presario CQ20 fills that position in the HP Compaq Presario CQ series. Its screen is only 12 inches, while its other two siblings have at least 14 inches for their LCD screen. Consistent with the Presario design, however, the CQ20 sports a native resolution of 1,280×800.

Small doesn’t mean it has falls behind its mates in the Presario line. The HP Compaq Presario CQ20 is marshaled by a processor that runs at a speed of 2 GHz. It specifically, boasts of an Intel Centrino Core 2 Duo P7350 processor, backed up by a solid memory of 2 gigabytes. For what it’s worth, running multiple processes at once is not a problem for this little notebook.

At first glance, you would wonder how Compaq has crammed a lot of features in a very small frame but it did. For example, the CQ20 has an optical drive placed under its hood. It has 3 USB ports, plus two video output connections: a VGA output and an HDMI output. The latter is useful, as you can plug the CQ20 directly into a true HD television to view high definition media. Last but not the least, it also has an SD/MMC memory card reader as well as ports for Bluetooth, Infrared and an ExpressCard slot.

Posted on January 22nd, 2010 | by admin

cq40_open[1]

The HP Compaq Presario CQ 40 is one member of the Presario CQ series of laptops by Compaq. By its specs alone, you can judge that the HP Compaq Presario CQ 40 is intended to be used more as a business notebook rather than something for gaming or any other heavy duty applications.

First, the HP Compaq Presario has an Intel Centrino P7350 for a processor. The central processing unit is clocked at a processing speed of 2 GHz. It is powered by the Intel Core 2 Duo technology by Intel, ensuring a very smooth and seamless performance which is ideal for businessmen as well as a benefit for the average user whose usage is limited to word processing, office applications and some light gaming on the side.

The CQ40’s processor is backed up by a sizable amount of RAM. With 2 gigabytes of RAM to be used for running processes, multi-tasking and multi-threading will be a breeze for this neat unit from Compaq.

HP Compaq Presario CQ60 – Review

Posted on January 20th, 2010 | by admin

Compaq-Presario-CQ60-200[1]

The top of the line in the HP Compaq Presario series is the HP Compaq Presario CQ60. The HP Compaq Presario CQ60 is the only one out of three that has a dedicated integrated graphics card. It has been endowed with a 256 MB Nvidia GeForce 9200M GS video processor. This gives the CQ60 a better ability at processing graphics compared to its smaller brothers, although it is still quite limited with 256 megabytes of video ram.

The CQ60 also has the largest screens among the three HP Compaq Presario CQ models. While the CQ20 and the CQ40 has 12.1 and 14 inches screens, respectively, the CQ60 has a 16-inch LCD screen for its display.

That’s where the differences end, however. In other things, the CQ60 share a lot in common with its brothers. For example, it has the Intel Centrino P7350 Core 2 Duo processor in its core, running at the same speed its siblings do: 2 gigahertz. It is supported by the same amount of random access memory found in the other two CQ models: 2 gigabytes. You can multi-task easily with this laptop, a feat coupled with its improved graphics capabilities that will leave you happy with the CQ60.

HP 6510B COMPAQ – Review

Posted on December 19th, 2009 | by admin

22304

Designed solely for the businessman, the HP 6510B Compaq is armed with a set of features that are intended only for one thing: performance. The HP 6510B Compaq would not have the bright or eye-grabbing aesthetics that you can find in other models from HP’s competitors, instead you’ll find a serious business laptop. That, after all, is the mark of an entrepreneur.

Being a business device, what are the things that you can look forward to from the HP 6510? To summarize, it offers the entrepreneur performance and security to rely on, and mobility to exploit. Best of all, it comes at a price that the businessman will not find difficult to invest in.

HP_ELITEBOOK_8530w

An entrepreneur or a chief executive has unique requirements that have to be filled to be able to run the business successfully and to ensure that nothing is left to chance. This individual has to have the best that technology has to offer that includes, among other things, wireless mobility, a trusty platform and the availability of a complete range of business solutions.

Many business laptops provide these basic necessities; however, commonly missed out is durability, a necessary trait that many laptops should have a high degree of but don’t. Tugging along your laptop or your notebook as you hop on last-minute flights, wrap up work inside a speeding taxi or lead conferences hundreds of miles away takes a toll. An average laptop can only take so much. The more you travel, the greater the abuse is on your portable workstation. Fortunately, HP saw this need and came up with the HP Elitebook 8530w — the laptop that willingly rises to the challenge and delivers with aplomb.  Just look how far this Laptop is beyondthe HP Compaq 6530b for instance.
