In addition to its ThinkPad and IdeaPad lines, Lenovo is now introducing the affordable G Series laptops. An offering of the G Series line is the Lenovo G550 – 2958R6U. With an acceptable price of $449.00, one might wonder what the Lenovo G550 – 2958R6U has to offer. This Lenovo model allows the user to perform the average computing job. This is not a laptop for the media aficionado or for the extremely busy traveling entrepreneur. Rather, this laptop is ideal for use at home or light traveling, allowing the user to enjoy his or her tasks with ease.
As for its essential G Series line, Lenovo offers the affordable everyday laptop. This line proposes smartly-designed, well-equipped laptops for the home, home office or for business, at a reasonable budget.
Despite its price, the Lenovo G550 – 2958R6U still packs one mean punch. One can use this laptop on the new Windows 7 Home Premium operating system. This model is also powered by the Intel® Pentium® Processor T4300 with RAM of 3 GB at 1066MHz. Plus, storage is not a problem as the hard drive holds up to a maximum of 250 GB.
In terms of its video capabilities, the Lenovo G550 – 2958R6U offers the Intel Graphics Media Accelerator X4500 integrated graphics card. It even boasts of a large 15.6″ WXGA screen with LED backlight and a resolution of 1366 x 768. The Lenovo G550 – 295R6U has its own numeric keypad, which is not standard in most Lenovo laptops. This model has a pointing device, which is the Industry Standard Touchpad.
Other features that make one take a second look at the Lenovo G550 – 2958R6U are its DVD Recordable (Dual Layer) optical drive, its Broadcom 11b/g Wi-Fi wireless network card and its 6 Cell Lithium-Ion battery. However, unlike the ThinkPad and IdeaPad models, the Lenovo G550 – 2958R6U does not have the finger print reader.
As this is merely for the basic computing and media function, the Lenovo G550 – 2958R6U does not have Dolby® Audio, a multi-touch touchpad, a MapLife with GPS capability, hard drive protection, among others. Thus, this model of Lenovo Essential Family is acceptable for home use or for the budding entrepreneur.
