HP 8540p Review

Posted on August 21st, 2010 | by admin

HP_8540p-5[1]

Like many HP laptops the HP Elitebook 8540p has a very stylish look. The laptop contains features and options so that it seems to target the business market.  In this HP 8540p review you will see that this is one power laptop. It contains a Core i5 or Core i7 laptop processor and has 2 or 4GB RAM.

On the Outside the HP 8540p has brushed metal exterior giving it a real stylish and sophisticated look. The other plus on the brushed metal is the fact that it will hide fingerprints. Overall it feels very sturdy when you handle the laptop this is great for protection of the LCD screen.

The HP 8540p ‘s screen is quite impressive for a business laptop. The colour saturation and black levels are great. The contrast is fair, so editing photos is quite possible. The 1 thing that is not that good on the screen is the level of back lighting. Working with this laptop outdoors on a bright day will not work, but indoors or in shade you will be fine.

The 8540p keyboard feels like a chiclet style keyboard. The keys have adequate space and the keyboard has a strong support structure in general. The touchpad is very responsive, we experienced no lag. This touchpad includes a mid button that might be helpful if you use it.

Lenovo G550 – 29586TU – Review

Posted on March 17th, 2010 | by admin

633927425005530000lenovo-g550-hq[1]

Coming from a line of business laptops, the Lenovo G550 – 29586TU is poised to deliver a performance tailored specifically for that intent.

First, the Lenovo G550 – 29586TU is similar to the other members of the family. Take a look at this Lenovo G550 Review. It has a powerful Intel Core 2 Duo T6600 processor. This CPU is clocked to be running at a speed of 2.20 GHz with a bus speed of 800 MHz. Its cache is also sized at 2 megabytes. This is the making of a laptop with exceptional performance. Plus, the processor is backed up by an adequately sized memory of 4 gigabytes to make sure that the computer has enough memory to use when processing a lot of programs. This is to avoid glitches and hang ups that are common to older processors with small amounts of random access memory.

Completing its features, the Lenovo G550 – 29586TU has a 14-inch LCD screen equipped with a light emitting diode backlight system that eliminates as much as possible the annoying glare caused by having a light source directly behind the user. Reflections are minimized by the backlight as well.

Lastly, the Lenovo G550 – 29586TU has a very large hard disk space capacity at 320 gigabytes. This space allows you to store more of your files as well as download large-size movies in HD format so you can enjoy true high-definition viewing with your PC. The Lenovo G550 – 29586TU also sports a DVD-Writer that supports burning unto dual layer discs.

Just like its siblings, however, the Lenovo G550 – 29586TU is equipped with an integrated Intel GMA 4500M: an on-board graphics processor that severely limits the Lenovo G550 – 29586TU from accommodating heavier and more detailed graphics.

The Lenovo G550 – 29586TU’s price range is pegged at $650 and higher, though offers exist that sell at $150 off the stated price.

SPECS

Processor:  Intel® Core™ 2 Duo processor T6600 ( 2.20GHz 800MHz 2MB )

Operating system:  Genuine Windows 7 Home Premium 64

Graphics:  Intel GMA 4500M

Memory:  4 GB PC3-8500 DDR3 SDRAM 1066MHz

Display:   15.6 ” WXGA LED Backlight TFT 1366×768

Hard disk space: 320GB 5400

PROS

The Lenovo G550 – 29586TU has a powerful processor at 2.20 GHz, more than enough for what is needed to multitask. The Lenovo G550 – 29586TU also has a very fat hard disk space with its 320 gigabyte hard disk drive. This combination ensures you that there will be little to no hang ups and lags at all when running multiple programs with this laptop.

CONS

Just like most of the Lenovo Essential laptops, the Lenovo G550 – 29586TU suffers from a lack of a dedicated graphics card that will allow it to process heavier graphics like the ones in the newer games. This makes it unappealing to those that want to use it for games aside from normal computing usage.

CONCLUSION

While it can be handicapped in the graphics part, the Lenovo G550 – 29586TU is nevertheless able to deliver on what it is supposed to do: a laptop designed for everyday and business usage where graphics processing requirements are only minimal. Of course, for those who are into hardcore gaming, this unit is certainly not the one for you.

As for its essential G Series line, Lenovo offers the affordable everyday laptop. This line proposes smartly-designed, well-equipped laptops for the home, home office or for business, at a reasonable budget.

As this is merely for the basic computing and media function, the Lenovo G550 – 2958R6U does not have Dolby® Audio, a multi-touch touchpad, a MapLife with GPS capability, hard drive protection, among others. Thus, this model of Lenovo Essential Family is acceptable for home use or for the budding entrepreneur.

Posted on March 14th, 2010 | by admin

NBL50-11-300x286

Being charged with some of the latest and most powerful features in the planet, the Micro Express NBL 50 is at the very least worth taking a look at.

First off, it has the latest in processor technology. Specifically, it runs using an Intel Core i5 laptop processor. With this, the unit functions as smoothly as a user needs it to. To ensure such performance, the laptop is armed with a RAM capacity of up to 8 gigabytes. When you want to run some heavy applications, you need to back up your processor with a lot of RAM so it has a lot of memory to use to process the programs. You have the option to upgrade to a Core i7 as well.

Designed as an all-around computer, the Micro Express NBL 50 is able to accommodate virtually anything, even 3D graphics. The laptop is able to do this due to the ATI HD 5650 graphics controller that is installed on it. This graphics processor gives the system a dedicated memory for graphics alone. With 1 gigabyte of VRAM, the NBL 50 produces stunning 3D images. Current games require a lot of memory for 3D rendering, but with the ATI HD 5650, these games will be a breeze for the NBL 50.

Posted on March 14th, 2010 | by admin

Lenovo G550 - 2958HHU

One of a line of business laptops published under the Lenovo Essential family, the Lenovo G550 – 2958HHU has a promising set of features designed solely for the busy entrepreneur and perhaps students who are always rushing to meet deadlines with reports and other literature required for their curriculum.

To ensure seamless operation and processing, Lenovo has equipped the Lenovo G550 – 2958HHU with a powerful Intel Core 2 Duo processor clocked at a speed of 2.2 GHz. Powerful as it is, it would need a lot of memory in order to efficiently handle a lot of tasks. To address that, the Lenovo G550 – 2958HHU is armed with a fat memory bank. You get an initial RAM of 2 gigabytes with your purchase, but you have the option to upgrade it to 4 gigabytes at most. The memory bank is a DDR3 RAM, the newest on the line.

The Lenovo G550 – 2958HHU has a 15.6 inches LCD screen. This size is more than adequate for the average user. Plus, the screen has a native resolution of 1366×768. The screen is glossy, but it also has a backlight provided by light-emitting diodes so glare from having a light source behind the user (i.e. sunlight) is not a problem when using the Lenovo G550 – 2958HHU. The LCD display also has a native 16:9 aspect ratio, eliminating black lines when viewing DVD movies and movie files on the computer.

For any computer user, adequate hard disk space is always a prime concern. But with the Lenovo G550 – 2958HHU, you can have as much space as you need for your important files as well as some other things that you might want to store like music, movies, games, and other files. Lenovo G450 – 2949CGU – Review

Posted on March 14th, 2010 | by admin

Lenovo G450 - 2949CGU

Lenovo has outdone  itself with the Lenovo G450 – 2949CGU. This laptop has all the makings of being an excellent replacement or alternate to a desktop PC.

First, it is armed with the technology of Intel’s Core 2 Duo processors. The Lenovo G450 – 2949CGU, in particular, has a processor clocked at a speed of 2.20 GHz. To make sure that there are no problems while the system processes memory hungry programs, Lenovo has given the laptop a whopping 4-gigabyte capacity for random access memory. Memory, after all, is a very important part of a computer’s functioning. When it processes a lot of information, the computer needs memory to keep operating. If it runs out of memory, it will be forced to trade memory packets from one program to another thus causing lags in the system.

Another remarkable feature of the Lenovo G450 – 2949CGU is the Nvidia Geforce graphics card it has on its chipset. This makes it an ideal platform for gaming and multimedia. The Nvidia GeForce G210M graphics card has a video memory of 512 megabytes, making it powerful enough to process heavier graphics for both games and movie editing. You can do a lot of things with the Lenovo G450 – 2949CGU, same thing as you would a desktop PC.

Worried about hard disk space? Everyone does, but with the Lenovo G450 – 2949CGU you shouldn’t have to think about it. Lenovo has given this laptop a very fat space for physical memory. 320 gigabytes is already enough for whatever needs that you may have: whether you’re an active downloader of music and movies, a gamer, or a businessman. You can put in a lot of files into your computer and still have enough space for more to come.

Lenovo Ideapad U330 – Review

Posted on March 13th, 2010 | by admin

Lenovo-IdeaPad-U330

The Lenovo Ideapad U330 is Lenovo’s entry into the fast-evolving light-and-stylish laptop category. The Lenovo Ideapad U330 takes it cue from its older brother, the Lenovo Ideapad U110 laptop. The Lenovo Ideapad U330 sports a glossy black finish with pinstripe pattern embedded on its lids.

The Lenovo Ideapad U330 is a one-of-a-kind 13-incher, boasting of some specs unique only to Lenovo’s laptops.

First of all, the Lenovo Ideapad U330 is powered by Intel’s Core 2 Duo P7350 Processor that clocks at 2.0 GHz.  This powerful processor is backed by 3 GB of DDR3 read access memory, which allows seamless performance even when opening heavy programs.  The Lenovo Ideapad U330 runs on Windows Vista; and the processing prowess of the Core 2 Duo/ 3GB RAM combo brings the Vista experience into a glitch-free one.

The most wonderful feature of the Lenovo Ideapad U330 is its switchable graphics. Yes, a user may alternate between an integrated graphics chipset and a dedicated video card.  The Lenovo Ideapad U330 is endowed with an integrated Intel GMA 4500MHD and 258 MB of ATI Radeon HD 3450.  With this feature, one who needs some graphics rendering may choose to switch modes from a regular power-saving GPU into a high-performance GPU without rebooting the system.  The ATI Radeon HD 3450 allows some hardcore operations that need heavy graphics rendering performance like some 3D games.  Some present games, however, may suffer some lag when played with the Lenovo Ideapad U330.

Acer Aspire Timeline 3810TZ-4880 – Review

Posted on March 13th, 2010 | by admin

Acer Aspire Timeline 3810TZ-4880

The Acer Aspire Timeline 3810TZ-4880 is part of Acer’s Timeline series that aims to integrate sleekness with ample computing power at a low price.

To start with, the Acer Aspire Timeline 3810TZ-4880 is powered by Intel’s Core 2 Duo U9400 processor.  This processor clocks in at a low 1.4 GHz but amazingly keeps the whole unit running for more than 10 hours. This is mainly because this processor is a CULV one, which consumes less power even when doing arduous computations.

The Acer Aspire Timeline 3810TZ-4880 is backed by up to 4 GB of memory, which allows hitch-less performance when opening a heavy program.  Its graphics is muscled by an integrated Intel GMA 4500MHD.

With these performance specs, the Acer Aspire Timeline 3810TZ-4880 is more than capable of performing office applications and more than enough to do Internet-related tasks.  However, the Acer Aspire Timeline 3810TZ-4880 cannot handle much graphics editing, mainly due to lack of dedicated video memory and having only integrated a graphics chipset. Definitely, 3D gaming is a big no-no for this laptop.

CyberPower Xplorer X6-6720 – Review

Posted on February 25th, 2010 | by admin

CyberPower_Xplorer_X6-6720

CyberPower released its new line of Gamer Xplorer Series systems designed with Intel’s latest mobile processors – with the CyberPower Xplorer x6-6720 being one of its first releases. By simply looking at the specs of the CyberPower Xplorer x6-6720, you would realize that CyberPower built the series with gaming and multimedia in mind.

Gaming in the past has always been limited to desktops. This is because of the requirements needed in order to play computer games — from the hard disk space to the graphics card. Currently, a lot of companies are now starting to make laptops aimed at gamers.

By having the Intel® Core™ i7-720 processor, users can get to enjoy playing computer games to its full potential. While other laptops use SDRAM, the Xplorer x6-6720 uses a DDRIII 1066 with a 4GB memory. A DDR RAM has the same architecture as SDRAM, but utilizes the clock signal differently allowing it to transfer twice the data in the same amount of time. Thus making your gaming experience more complete.

Sager NP9280 – Review

Posted on February 20th, 2010 | by admin

Sager_NP8682

The Sager NP9280 is known as the world’s first Intel Core i7 laptop, which is the fastest processor on the planet.  The Sager NP9280 has an amazing 2.66 Ghz up to 3.33 Ghz speed that sets out to compete with the desktop. Nevertheless, Sager built this laptop just in time to have gamers and demanding users put to the test this version of the NP9280 enhanced with a triple channel DDR3 memory and an FSB of 1066MHz for overclocking. The Sager NP9280 incorporates a GPU Nvidia graphics card with Phys-x technology, and the GTX 280 M with a 1 GB DDR3 memory, achieving speed that’s much faster than its rivals.

The Sager NP9280 almost has the same features as its competitor, the Clevo D900F. The Clevo however is said to be a copycat of the NP9280 because it bears similar specifications but is more rugged in design.

When it comes to design, the Sager NP9280 doesn’t impress. However, it is sturdy and has a dual tone high gloss exterior finish that is quite scratch-resistant and doesn’t pick up fingerprints as much.
